Ethan Dotson Earns Wild West Shootout Victory at Central Arizona Raceway
Sunshine Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park Up Next
AUGUSTA, Ga. (Jan. 19, 2026) — Momentum is already building for Ethan Dotson and ASD Motorsports in 2026, as the California native captured his first victory of the season just two weeks into the new year.
Driving the ASD Motorsports / Jarrett Rifles No. 74x Longhorn Chassis Late Model, Dotson earned his first career Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout triumph on Wednesday night at Central Arizona Raceway, prevailing over reigning series champion Bobby Pierce in the third round of the six-race miniseries.
Dotson powered into the lead on lap 22, overtaking Hudson O’Neal—who had taken the top spot from Pierce just one lap earlier—and controlled the remainder of the 30-lap feature to claim the $10,000 victory.
"I was hoping (Pierce) was gonna go in there and run the bottom,” Dotson said. “Before that caution came out I got it rolling pretty good. Whenever Bobby drove in there and Terbo (Tyler Erb) picked the bottom (for the restart), I was like, ‘Oh, s—, I got a chance here.’ Just super pumped.”
Dotson opened the final four nights of racing on Wednesday night with a runner-up run in his heat race, chasing Jonathan Davenport to the checkers in the eight-lap.
In the feature, Dotson patiently worked his way forward before making his decisive move inside the final 10 laps. On lap 23, he swept past both O’Neal and Pierce as the two battled for the lead, then paced the final circuits to become the third driver from California to claim a victory in the annual Wild West Shootout.
Dotson’s Wild West Shootout campaign also included a 15th-place outing on Friday, followed by consistent seventh-place finishes in both Saturday’s preliminary feature and Sunday night’s $25,000-to-win finale.
